This morning by nancy coleman (written THIS morning)

This morning
before the sun rose and
before the moon set
i ran in the dark

Perhaps you heard me on the street below
my hooves clattering
nostrils twitching
mane flying off my back like
last nights dreams
wisps of steam rising
as breath, as prayer

Perhaps you wondered
if I were your own dream.
Perhaps i wondered
if I were real,
if I had come true at last.
